About Babism

A religious movement founded in Shiraz by the Bab, who proclaimed himself a messenger of God. It spread rapidly across Iran and met severe persecution. The Bab was executed in Tabriz in 1850. Most of his followers later accepted Bahaullah, and the movement became the precursor of the Bahai Faith.
