About Navayana
A reinterpretation of Buddhism developed by B. R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. In 1956 in Nagpur, Ambedkar and hundreds of thousands of followers, many from Dalit communities, converted to Buddhism. It emphasizes social equality and liberation from caste. Most followers live in Maharashtra.
