About Spiritism
A doctrine codified by the French educator Allan Kardec in The Spirits Book. Spiritists believe in communication with spirits of the dead, reincarnation, and moral progress. It has its largest following in Brazil, where the medium Chico Xavier became famous. Spiritist centers often run charitable clinics.
