About Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church

One of the oldest Christian churches, established when the Aksumite king Ezana adopted Christianity. Tewahedo means made one, referring to its belief in the united nature of Christ. Its biblical canon is broader than most churches and includes the Book of Enoch. The rock hewn churches of Lalibela are a famous pilgrimage site.
