About Yarsanism
Also called Ahl-e Haqq, the people of truth, a syncretic faith founded by Sultan Sahak in western Iran. Its followers believe in successive manifestations of the divine. Music on the tanbur lute plays a central role in worship. Most adherents are Kurds living in western Iran and northern Iraq.
