About Zaydism
A branch of Shia Islam named after Zayd ibn Ali, a great grandson of Ali. Zaydis are often considered the Shia school closest to Sunni Islam in law. Zaydi imams ruled in northern Yemen for roughly a thousand years until the 1962 revolution. Most Zaydis today live in Yemen.
