About Orthodox Judaism
The branch of Judaism that holds the written and oral Torah to be divinely given and binding. Observance of halakha, Jewish law, governs daily life including Sabbath and dietary laws. It includes Modern Orthodox and Haredi communities. Orthodoxy defined itself in response to the rise of Reform Judaism in Germany.
