About Maya Religion
The religion of the Maya of Mesoamerica. Kings performed rituals to sustain the cosmos, and complex calendars guided ceremonies. The Popol Vuh records Kiche Maya creation stories. Temples such as those at Tikal and Chichen Itza were sacred centers. Traditional Maya practices continue in Guatemala and southern Mexico.
